What is Zakat House?

December 6, 2010 at 11:37 am Leave a comment

Zakat House seeks to be the leading social entrepreneurship incubator in Europe, head quartered from offices in the heart of London.

The incubator seeks through both endowments and its activities to generate surpluses to reinvest in sustainable activities within an accountable framework, catalyzing self supportive communities focused on creativity and production.

While recognizing that Zakat House has a larger purpose than making profit, the key purpose is not simply to earn money from lettings or provide managed workspace but to incubate organisations that will innovate both products and services from both a charity or not for profit basis geared at improving the issues of social and economic justice, environmental sustainability, and quality of life. Hence a key return on investment measurement will be benefits measured in terms of social and environmental outcomes and impacts.

The success of the incubator will be assessed by its ability to generate initiatives that improve the quality of services, improve efficiency, add value to existing services whilst proving long term viability.
